For our 15th anniversary we celebrated with a Disney trip, for our 16th we did a quiet coastal getaway where we made the big decision to plant roots in Tillamook County and buy our home, and for our 17th this year we decided that we just needed a weekend in the city to refresh. We started with dropping the kids off at family’s and then stopping by for a light lunch at my fav; whole foods. After some soup and jicama we drove into Downtown Portland where I spent some time at Nordstrom while Josh enjoyed some coffee and a book…. yeah we like to party hard.
Our biggest plans for the weekend were 1) to sleep in and 2) to have breakfast in bed. We accomplished all our goals, what can I say, we are overachievers. I am so looking forward to our 18th anniversary. I’m thinking it will be a redo of The Nines getaway because seriously this place is amazing. You don’t ever need to leave if you don’t wish to. We decided to dine in their restaurants and enjoy some of their little sitting areas. In the morning we opted for breakfast in and enjoyed a late checkout. What’s not to love about a gorgeous relaxing venue with the love of your life.
Although the trip was purely to relax I did get to do a little project; shoot for fun. Just for me. Here are a few captures that have that yummy film look which I love so much yet don’t get to fully use often in my wedding work. The view from our room was so perfect. We got to sit and sip on coffee while people watching since our window faced Pioneer Courthouse Square.
Yes, we are officially of people watching age.
We thoroughly enjoyed every sitting corner this place had to offer but my favorite time was spent relaxing with delicious food and conversation. Urban Farmer was fantastic and their chef super to work with. As you might know I have a pretty strict autoimmune diet and the staff worked very had to meet my needs and were so friendly and helpful as they did so. These days that is hard to come by as most in the food and service industry are fed up with fad diets so I was so pleased to have friendly and caring staff!
As I said, one of our goals was to sleep in. With our schedules the way they are this whole sleeping in thing is a thing of the past so I was beyond excited for this luxury, until it was 6am and Josh shot up straight in a panic as he stressed about us sleeping past the alarm (of which we hadn’t event set!). After trying to calm him down I realized he was fully sleep talking . I asked him to lay back down to which he did, and fell fast sleep. I sat there for 4o minutes debating weather I should kill him or go for a run across the bridges of Portland, something I’ve always thought would be fun to do. As I laid there contemplating the best choice I eventually fell sleep. When Josh woke me later with breakfast in bed I was more than happy to forgive him. Here is to many more years of sleep talking and laughing about it Josh. I love you!! xoxo
