Both students at George Fox University, they got to know each other living in the same dorm. One night they went out for burgers and after decided to go watch the craze that was Disney’s Frozen. From that moment on they were inseparable. As they got to know each other better and better this thing that began turned into a genuine deep friendship. Lauren said that’s when she knew she loved Caleb; when she realized he truly was her best friend.
A few years later the time had come, as Caleb tells it “I wanted to propose to Lauren. I messaged a number of her closest friends and began to plan the proposal. The day came and her parents made their way up to Nansen Summit in Lake Oswego to met all our friends. I drove Lauren up with the pretense of looking at Christmas lights. The weather forecast did not look good, however, and thunderstorms were beginning to roll in. The rain began to fall on the drive there and I was crestfallen, but committed. We made it to Nansen Summit and I miraculously got her to walk up to the top with me, where there is a little park area. Her friends were hidden in the bushes on the far side of the clearing, and it was right there that I proposed. I think I remember telling her something about how wonderful she was, but truthfully, the most important part was when I told her I loved her, got down on one knee in the mud, and asked her to be my wife. She said yes (thankfully!) and her friends came out and joined us. We all deserted the blustery summit in favor of a small coffee shop and got some time together. Lauren and I ended off the night with a surprise trip (well, surprise for her) to Ruth’s Chris for a fancy and romantic dinner for two. It was the perfect day.”
Here are a few of my favorite moments from another perfect day for Caleb and Lauren at Postlewait’s Country Weddings in Canby, Oregon. You truly sense the deep friendship these two share and their desire to honor Christ over all. That’s the most beautiful thing of all.
Lauren and Caleb, Thank you so much for entrusting me with the memories of your day. I am forever thankful!! xoxo Xiomara
