Hugh and Cam fell in love. Then they fell in love with the Oregon Coast. How can you not?! On a weekend trip down the coastline they decided to look at some wedding venues and found The Pelican Pub and Brewery. It was then that they decided this was their dream location for their dream destination wedding. Together with their family and closest friends they traveled to Pacific City on what was to be one of the most amazing weekends I’ve ever seen in the fall on the Oregon Coast. Their group took full advantage of the sunshine and just relaxed at the beachside properties. While the girls and guys got ready Cam’s relatives lovingly prepared the traditional tea ceremony- and the environment in which Hugh and Cam would see each other for the first time on their wedding day at one of the rental properties.
I had never been a part of a traditional tea ceremony but hope that I can partake in them again. There is just something so beautiful about traditions and embracing your heritage. I specially loved how the ceremony was so honoring to the older and wiser married couples on both sides of the families that are now united as one. The ceremony set the tone for the rest of the beautiful and unique wedding day……
I loved the traveling theme reception and LOVED the dance floor where Hugh and Cam showed off some original moves- like the steering wheel and the fishing rod! Have I mentioned they were a fun couple?! They truly were and I so appreciated their willingness to just let loose and enjoy their day- even when it came to portrait time. Being that their day was full of bright sunshine and the fact that their portraits were scheduled in that bright unflattering light, I boldly asked if they would be willing to move portrait time to right before sunset so that we could take advantage of dreamy light verses harsh sunshine. They were more than willing and even left their dinner time just to ensure we could capture great portraits. That friends, is a photographers dream couple!
Hugh and Cam incorporated some really unique touches throughout their day. My favorite of these: Having their guests step out onto the seashore to make wishes. It was a beautiful sight to see tender moments being shared and the night sky lit with wishes for the newlyweds!
