They took a leisurely slow morning, went to church to worship, took the kiddos to brunch at the Beach in Pacific City and then headed back to get ready for their session. We met up at Mount Hebo on the Oregon Coast on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I typically don’t work on Sundays but after their session was rained out for over a month, we jumped on the first dry day!
We arrived at Mount Hebo, A breathtaking location but this time of year it’s also windy and coooooold. We encountered snow and 30 some degree weather, although you would never know it by the happy moments we were able to capture!
The kids were such troopers and Amanda a natural encourager and nurturer, she cared for them and kept the fun coming. Hand in hand they walked through the fields, the kids stopping to pet Regan, their rescued pup, and Mike sneaking in a kiss from time to time. I told them to just do their thing and not to worry too much about the camera. Oh sure, we did some posed shots as I always do, but the point of this session was to capture their sweet moments leading up to their wedding day this August.
I loved our mountain top engagement session/family portrait time. It really felt more like an hiking outing with friends and not so much like work! After we documented their family bond the kiddos and Regan earned some fun treats and it was time for Amanda and Mike to work it in front of the camera. And let’s just say they are naturals. They danced, laughed and just let loose- that’s when the best moments are captured, when a couple is free to be themselves and just enjoy what I like to call a mini date, with paparazzi in tow! ;)
And… these floral crowns were the perfect touch both for the family portrait time (I mean, matching floral crowns, yes please!) and just the prefect touch of femininity to the rugged mountain top- many thanks to Sunflower Flats for making it these a reality for this unusual Sunday session- those ladies never cease to amaze me!
Mike and Amanda, from the bottom of my appreciative heart thank you for allowing me into this special time in your lives. I was excited for your wedding already but after spending the afternoon with you and your kiddos I am beyond so- I know it’s going to be one amazing day! xoxo Xiomara
