Walking the streets of Newberg, Oregon where they first met and fell in love while they were both George Fox students- A sparkle in her eyes and he holding tightly to her hand, full of ear to ear smiles they sipped their Chapter’s coffee and tea and shared memories with me of their first dates. We roamed the streets with no “real” plan other than to capture real life. Real love. We stopped at Chapter’s Books and Coffee- a meaningful little shop where they shared some of their favorite date memories. No one quite knows which one should count as the first date. The one where he was confident he was on a date with the girl of his dreams- the same one where she thought she was sharing coffee and conversation with a friend who, in her opinion, just so happened to be the cutest guy on campus. Recalling this they laugh and share doting glances. He holds her hand tighter. She grabs on to his. And we are off on an amazing afternoon shoot.
Photographing Alexis and Joe was too easy. Really. The chemistry they share is not something you can coax to get a great photo. In fact I finally told them I should just let them do their thing and quietly document because they just look great together!
I first met Alexis at Becca and Jacob’s wedding. She and I had the opportunity to work closely together that day being that she had the joy of being Becca’s Maid of Honor. Soon after this, Alexis emailed me letting me know that she and Joe were wedding planning and wanted to see about moving forward with booking me for their Seattle area wedding. Long story made short; I was booked for their ideal date but because she and Joe couldn’t see anyone else documenting their day they decided to change their wedding date to one which I was available for. Just writing that humbles me.
Josh and I met them for dinner one night and Joe had to tell me that I really had no idea how big of a deal this decision was. Apparently photos are really important to Alexis. So much so that she has been following one particular blog and had picked out her dream photographer already. But after working together she reexamined her decision…….. I am so beyond honored that they chose me to document their love. Simply because I realize the enormous trust they are placing in me to document their unique love for generations to come. I am just floored…….Joe and Alexis, you really bless my socks off like you wouldn’t believe and I am SO EXCITED to be called your wedding photographer.
P.S. Josh and I can’t wait for our next double date with you!!! xoxo Xiomara
