A little over six years ago we moved from Kansas to the Oregon Coast. In my limited view of things, I felt the Lord must surely be closing the door to the business that I had begun in Kansas. I mean, what business survives such a large move and especially when a business is so young. Upon our arrival I “just so happened” to have the opportunity to photograph a local event. From that one event a family heard about my work and hired me to photograph their family. From that family another family heard and from that family Jennifer heard of my work and hired me to photograph her family– fast forward five years and I have had the joy of photographing the Jenck family countless times. Family sessions, Newborn portraits, Engagement Sessions, Weddings and through it I’ve had the ultimate photographer’s joy to be described as their family photographer.
When Anthony proposed to Stephanie, they quickly contacted me to inquire as to the process of documenting their love story. I begun to talk with them and walk them through the process . We had not reserved their date yet when Stephanie’s mom called to make sure that I reserved their wedding date. To hear her say “we wouldn’t want anyone else but you” practically left me in tears. So here I begun to get to know Anthony and Stephanie a bit more as I’ve not had the opportunity to know them as well being that they were away at college.
Well, let me just say that they make a lasting impression. We met for coffee one Saturday morning and we talked wedding plans but mostly just got to know each other. It was then that I learned of their walk with the Lord and their last years as they have grown in faith and trust. That growth is never an easy one. And can be oh so painful. And so this is their unique love story. One of total surrender to God’s will when it didn’t make sense. Of stepping out in faith through pain and confusion. And one where two souls seek wholeheartedly to pursue God and surrender to Him fully only to find that in their pursuit of Him they encounter that He was leading them to each other. Guiding them each individually, taking them by the hand and then placing that hand in the others saying. This. This here. This is holy. And good and I gift you with it.
Still writing it out gives me goosebumps…. what an amazing God we serve. When we think doors are closing, he is still at work. We just don’t always see the full picture. But we remember this: He is good.
And so here Anthony and Stephanie move forward in their love and pursue of that which is Holy and good and they pursue it hand in hand. Together.
At their engagement session they wanted to be sure to incorporate who they really are. It’s hard to label them in one word. So I will let the images speak for themselves. From the moments of worshipping to Hillsong United’s Ocean’s in front of the camera, simply being themselves…. worship comes natural to them. To the quiet moments where they embraced and thanked the Lord for this gift that they have in Him. It is my wish that these images truly capture who they are. How deeply they love. And most importantly how Good God is.
I cannot put into the words how excited I am to showcase their wedding in a few months….stay tuned for that but also for part two of this lovely engagement session that Stephanie designed herself…. that will be coming next week and you do not want to miss the golden light, the floral piece and the amazing sunset on the Oregon Coast!
